New home

It's alive!

We're going to be building out our new internet digs using the Cryogen static site generation framework. Overall, I've been pretty pleased with the framework, but there are a few things that I would have liked to see done differently. For starters, I'm really not a big fan of Selmer templating. I'd much rather use code (hiccup or enlive) to generate content, since I think code/data is more leverageable. It is also a little bit too opinionated (in my opinion) about being specifically for blogging. Given some simple modifications, I think it could be a much stronger option out of the box for home pages, etc. But all in all, it gets the main flow of things going quickly and has some nice features including SEO optimization and automatic rendering triggered by file saves, which I can't argue with.

I've been keen and interested in exploring other static content generator solutions, and may eventually get around to that. But for now, this will do just fine.

Expect to see more here soon!
